Privacy Policy
What happens to visitor data and correspondence, and the site's current cookie and advertising status.
Last updated: October 21, 2026
This policy describes information handling on thefactful.com, published under the name The Factful. For a privacy question or request, contact admin.thefactful@gmail.com.
The site as it operates now
You can read the articles without creating an account. The site has no visitor accounts, comment system, newsletter signup, checkout or contact form. It runs no advertising. It uses two analytics tools, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, described under Analytics below. Our images, fonts and search files are served from this site's own domain rather than an embedded social or video service.
Information needed to deliver the website
Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes requests to deliver pages and protect the service. A request can include your IP address, browser and device information, the page requested, request time and referring page, where your browser supplies it. Hosting and security systems may keep technical logs. See Vercel's Privacy Policy for its handling of personal data.
Site search
Search runs in your browser using a downloaded list of article titles and descriptions. Search words are placed in the page URL as a query parameter. They are not sent to an outside search provider, but the URL may be included in hosting requests, browser history or a link you share. Do not enter personal or sensitive information into search.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to count visits, see which guides are read and find pages that cause trouble. These tools receive technical details such as your IP address, browser, device, approximate location and the pages you view, and they set cookies (see Cookies and similar technologies). We use the reports in aggregate, not to identify individual readers. You can stop these tools through your browser's cookie settings, Google's Analytics opt-out add-on and Microsoft Clarity's opt-out page. See Google's Privacy Policy and Microsoft's Privacy Statement for how those companies handle data.
If you email us
We receive your email address, the message and any attachments you choose to send. We use correspondence to answer the enquiry, investigate an article or website issue, handle a privacy or permission request and keep a record of that exchange. Do not include passwords, payment details or unnecessary personal information.
The contact mailbox uses Gmail, so Google also processes correspondence as the email provider. See Google's Privacy Policy. Email and hosting providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live.
Correspondence is stored in the contact mailbox. Retention depends on the enquiry, any continuing issue and applicable legal obligations. Technical log retention is controlled by the relevant provider. Contact us if you want information about or deletion of correspondence you sent.
Cookies and similar technologies
The analytics tools set cookies: Google Analytics uses cookies such as _ga to tell visits apart, and Microsoft Clarity uses cookies such as _clck to link page views into sessions. You can stop or delete these cookies through your browser's cookie settings, and you can opt out of each tool with Google's Analytics opt-out add-on and Microsoft Clarity's opt-out page. The site's search does not need a cookie or browser storage. This does not describe cookies used after you follow an external link, or by your email provider when you contact us.
Advertising is not active
No Google AdSense or other ad network code is active on this site. The following explains what would need to be disclosed if Google advertising is introduced; it does not mean that ads or advertising cookies are currently running.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a person's previous visits to this or other websites. Google's advertising cookies allow it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and other sites on the Internet. Ad serving can also involve web beacons, IP addresses or other identifiers. Read how Google uses data on partner sites.
You can manage personalized advertising through Google's advertising settings and learn about choices for participating third-party vendors at YourAdChoices. Opting out of personalization does not necessarily stop all ads or all data processing.
Before advertising is enabled, this policy must identify the actual services and vendors in use, their purposes and the available controls. Any required consent or opt-out mechanism must also be in place. For personalized Google ads served to visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google requires a certified consent management platform integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. This site has not enabled that advertising setup.
External links
Articles link to manufacturer manuals and other websites. Those sites operate under their own privacy policies. Following a link sends a request to the destination; check its policy before providing information there.
Your choices and requests
Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information, object to processing, request a copy or complain to a relevant authority. Email admin.thefactful@gmail.com with your request. We may need enough information to verify that it concerns your own correspondence. Do not send identity documents unless a suitable, necessary verification method has first been agreed.
Who is responsible
The Factful is the publisher of this website and the controller of the personal information described here. You can reach us at admin.thefactful@gmail.com.
Why we use information and where it goes
If you email us, we use your message to reply, to check an article or fix a website problem, and to keep a record of the exchange. We rely on our legitimate interest in running the site and answering readers. If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, you can object to this use or complain to your local data protection authority. Our hosting, analytics and email providers may process data in the United States and other countries. We do not make decisions about you by automated means.
Privacy rights for US residents
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, because the site runs no advertising today. Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws can ask us what personal information we hold from correspondence, ask us to correct or delete it, and ask us not to treat it any other way. We will not treat you differently for making a request. Email admin.thefactful@gmail.com with the subject "Privacy request". If we start showing ads, we will update this section first and add a way to opt out of sharing for advertising.
Children and security
The articles are intended for adult equipment owners, not children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information to the contact mailbox, tell us so it can be addressed. The site uses HTTPS, but no website or email system can guarantee absolute security.
Policy changes
We will update this page when the site's information handling changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision. For more about the publisher and site, see About, Contact and the Terms of Use.
